Global health map – connecting UK emergency care practitioners

Everyone loves a happy ending, right? Well here’s one for you – perhaps really more of a beginning anyway!

Remember we updated you last year about project in collaboration with RCEM to map global health engagement amongst emergency care practitioners in the UK which made its way into the European Journal of Emergency Medicine? Well, a mere 2 and a half years since the 2021 official project launch it’s finally here!

Now many of you will reflect that in that time you can grow a whole child from scratch, wean them onto solids and maybe even get a few words out if them (in fact Claire, one of the project leads pretty much did just that!) – so why so long? Data collection, data cleaning, data checking, navigating IT/web challenges, administrative hurdles, creating and inputting new code for about 300 data entries (yeah, that), getting everyone who needed to be, on board… oh and the small matter of living everyday life alongside that of course.

You can access the map and its instructions on the RCEM website here.  It won’t be perfect and it certainly won’t do everything you’d like it to however we hope it makes a start in connecting you together and creating a space to share your projects and programmes.

Anyone with the skills, expertise and time to improve it, definitely get in touch globalhealthmapping@rcem.ac.uk
