By the time July 2020 arrived in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world had swapped face-to-face for online working, so GECCo also switched gear. Listening to everything that was said in our first event, we maintained our focus on bringing people and their ideas together. A brief key note talk was also given by Dr Stevan Bruijns who, later in the year, went on to win the RCEM William Rutherford prize for his global health work.
The online event did a good job of simulating in-person networking as far as possible. These jam-boards below capture the fantastic discussions that took place in focused breakout sessions.
A considerable body of further collaborative work resulted from this event including the development of research and educational material. The event also informed approaches to global health fellowships and showcased global health careers opportunities.
