You might remember back in 2021 when a team connected via GECCo launched a project in collaboration with RCEM to map global health engagement amongst emergency care practitioners in the UK. Since then, lots of work has been going on: a qualitative study is nearing completion and has been presented around the world and the map itself (which has been batting away endless technical hurdles) is nearing completion – more on that soon so watch this space! Meanwhile in August this year findings from the original study have been published: “Mapping global health activity amongst UK emergency care practitioners: time for a Europe-wide approach?”
At the same time (there’s that saying about buses, right?) you may remember us telling you about the piece of work some of us were doing to investigate the use of the GEMLR as a proxy measure of global health engagement amongst emergency care practitioners worldwide. Again, this was presented internationally, and the associated publication: “Emergency medicine engagement in global health: what does 10 years of the global emergency medicine literature review tell us?” also made it into press in August 2023.
